Like most modern shooters, Valorant has plenty of digital colors to wrap your favorite weapons in. Also similar to most shooters, the majority of them are going to need you to shell out some cash to obtain. Valoratn’s store and unlock system can be a little confusing, however, so below we’ve put together an explanation for how to get or buy skins in Valorant so you know all the methods to make your guns that much prettier.

The primary way to get skins in Valorant is to buy them through the store. This can be accessed by clicking the tab at the top of the main menu. Valorant has a rolling store which changes each day. You’ll have one main collection available, then a selection of individual skins below you can also buy. Skins cost Radiant, Valorant’s premium currency. You’ll get 40 for free, but need to pay out for any more beyond that. If you’re after a particular collection, you’ll need to wait for the skins to come around again and appear in the store before you can buy them.
While the majority of skins in Valorant need to be bought, there are several you can get for free, provided you’re willing to put in the time. Each Agent in Valorant has one skin associated with them, which unlocks when you reach level 9 in their contract. You can view the skins by clicking the Collection tab on the main menu, then swapping to Agents. Click the Agent you want to look at and choose View Contract. Scroll over to level 9 and you can inspect the skin. You can also choose to pay Radiant to unlock up to that contract level, but it’s bloody expensive, so we don’t recommend it.

To start a contract, select the Agent on the Collections tab and choose Activate to start working towards that goal. All XP you earn will go towards the contract, so be sure to complete your daily challenges when possible. You can swap between contracts freely without losing any progress, so don’t stress it if you change your mind part way. Bear in mind that it’ll take a lot of hours to work towards a level 9 contract, so don’t expect to get that skin any time soon without paying.
There you go, you now know how to get or buy skins in Valorant. Get ready to drop some money for Radiant and wait until the skin you’re after arrives in the store, or put in a lot of hours to earn each Agent’s skin.
